rvss.eel This jazz is borderline too straight for me (as in, it is not alt or fusion, which is typically where I tread), but Flumina's energy and unwillingness to rest easy for long keep this far from sounding straight. Kazutoshi Sohta is an individual, but the piano, bass, drums, guitar, and vibraphone all share space and shine equally, and it's hard to listen through this without imagining anything but expressions of exhilaration (and perhaps some mischief) on the faces of these musicians as they play. Favorite track: Peak.

Born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1999, performed at Fuji Rock Festival 2021, won the highest award at Sapporo City Jazz "PARK JAZZ LIVE CONTEST" and performed at COTTON CLUB TOKYO at "International Jazz Day 2022", supported and played an active role in advertising music, etc. , Kazutoshi Sohta, a young pianist who is attracting attention day by day. He released his long-awaited debut on Playwright.

This album which was recorded in a "quintet system" consisting of piano, guitar, vibraphone, bass, and drums, includes the lead-single (1) by AleaJacta Est, (7) by Truamdeutung, and re-recorded version of (2)Peak, (4)ideal, and (8)Impulse, which were released before the time he joined Playwright.
In addition, The Duology of Hydrangea Blue develops from the piano solo (5) I Imagination to the quintet system (6) II Development, and (9) Youth, which conveys fresh sensibility in a running rhythm.

Just like the title of the album, "Flumina" (river, flow), the flowing, beautiful and passionate piano sound captures the listener's heart and never lets go.

1999年広島県生まれ、フジロックフェスティバル2021に出演し、その後はサッポロシティジャズ「PARK JAZZ LIVECONTEST」最優秀賞受賞、"International Jazz Day2022" にてCOTTON CLUBTOKYO への出演、サポートや広告音楽での活躍など、日に日に注目を集める若手ピアニスト草田一駿(ソウタカズトシ)。Playwrightより待望のデビュー作をリリース。

ピアノ、ギター、ヴィブラフォン、ベース、ドラムの"五重奏体系"で録音された本作は、先駆けて配信リリースされた(1)AleaJacta Est、(7)Truamdeutung 、そしてPlaywright所属前に配信された(2)Peak、(4)ideal、(8)Impulseの再録版を収録。
その他、ピアノソロの(5)ⅠImaginationから、五重奏体系の(6)ⅡDevelopmentへと展開していくThe Duology of Hydrangea Blueや、駆け巡るようなリズムの中、瑞々しい感性が伝わる(9)Youthなど、全9曲収録。

アルバムタイトルの「Flumina」(川、流れ)の通り、流れるように美しく、かつ情熱的に紡がれるピアノの音は、聴く人の心を掴んで離さない。
